exam and accelerated math determination day

today we have determined the day that accelerated math is due (June 25) the friday after the exam which is on thursday MORNING!!! June 24.

"Work Period"

Today, is the last class until next Thursday where you have dedicated access to Mr. Maks and the computer. Make to start thinking about the exam, make sure to prepare your formula sheet, only one piece of loose leaf (paper).

Hey sorry for not posting on the blog last Friday, I was really busy with the dream room project. Last friday Mr. Maks said that we could have till Monday to had our projects in, but from there if you haven't handed it in, you will lose marks. Also last Friday, it was freezing in the room. Mr. Maks even had to wear his jacket. Someone commented that he was cold blooded, so he commented on poikilothermic vs. homeothermic. Everyone either worked on their dream room project or accerated math.

Work Period

Today was a "work period" we continued to work on accelerated math. Mr. Maksymchuk is starting a new unit tommorow called "Functions & Relations". Today is our last day to work on "Dream Room" projects, also he is here for tutoring tommorow after school.

Work Period

Today Mr.Maks reminded us that our everything spreadsheets are now overdue. He will be entering our everything spreadsheet marks in the computer in the coming days so if you aren't done the spreadsheet then now is the time to finish it. Mr.Maks also reminded us that Accelerated Math is getting down to the wire in the fact that we only have 4 of 5 weeks left to do it this semester. Our "Dream Room" projects are due next week. that is all today. Other than that it is a work period today. Our Exam is on THURSDAY JUNE 24 IN THE MORNING. IT WILL EITHER BE IN THE RESOURCE ROOM OR IN MR.MAKS ROOM

Math Day 70 :/

Today was a work period because Mr. Maksymchuck decided not to try to talk over the fans seeing as its so hot in this room! He also assigned this project for dream bedrooms. and finally Mr. Maksymchuck believes strongly in high fives.. :) so if you see him dont be afraid to give him one!

On Tuesday we had a work day because Mr. Maksymchuk was not here. We had a chance to work on our everything spread sheet, our project and our accelerated math.

Today Mr. Maksymchuck announced that he will be turning 39 this year, he also inforced the no hugging rule in the classroom so as a reminder i put this picture on the blog

Today we worked on the excel spreadsheets that are due on May 15. We also worked on some accelerated math.

Catch up

Today, and by that I mean yesterday because I'm late making this post, would be a great day to catch up. The spreadsheet is due in less than 2 weeks so we gotta get going on that, but it's important to keep your accelerated math up to date too, especially if you got the letter home from Mr. Maks because you need to finish that up to pass the course.

Today in math class we did mental math. We got to draw smiley faces!! Other than that we are having a work period. Remember don't forget to work on your spread sheets on Excel, you need to have all formulas for 2-D and 3-D shapes and objects. They are due May 14!

Day of "The Letter"

Today we did mental math to begin the class. the remainder of the class is being used as a work period for accelerated math. Mr. Maks talked to students today that were below a certain point in their accelerated math, and that there would be a letter sent home the middle of next week.

Earth Day Games

Today we did Mental Math 26. After that Mr. Maksymchuk taught us a game called Take 1 or 2. The game only has a couple rules. The rules are it has to start at 0 and you can only add 1 or 2 after that. The person who says 20 out loud wins. After that Mr. Maks gave us a question asking what the highest number of McNuggets that you can't buy if you can only buy them in packages of 6, 9, and 20. Once you figure that out, Mr. Maks wants us to prove that it works. If we figured it out then we were supposed to continue to working on Accelerated Math.

April 19th, 2010

Today in math, we talked about the 'the law of cosine.' We learned about the time when we need and we would use that procedure the most. The two things are: the 2 sides and the included angle or all 3 sides and no angles. Mr.Maks also gave us 6 different types of the cosine laws. After we were done this lesson we continued to work on our accelerated math; for the remainder of the time.

Today we started off with mental math. Next we were shown how "Law of Sin" works. which you have to pay attention too understand it.this video will help you it you did not get it the first time. We finish the lesson on Monday.

The substitute assigned us up to objective 30. If done, go onto the computer and go into the sub day folder and work on a new lesson when done.

We are learning how to solve angles on right angle triangles. We also learned how to solve the length of the sides on right angle triangles.

Today we did mental math and for the rest of the class is a working period. Point to remember: If you know the slope of a parallel line and want to know the perpendicular line simply take the slope of line one (parallel) and flip it giving it a negative sign which gives you line two (perpendicular)
Example: Parallel: a/b
Perpendicular: -b/a

Yesterday we did mental math , after that was completed we worked on our progaming in excel or we could work on accelerated math.

Catch up Day!

Today we did mental math st. patricks day style. It was a catch up day so we worked on accelerated math or our excel or calculator programs. Mr. Maksymchuk showed us an article from the web where a principal in a school posted a list of names of all the kids failing in the front hall. please comment on what you think about that.

March 11/10........ In class we did mental math # 11. Mr. Maks went around and checked everyones calculator to see if they now how to program distance and midpoint. Will we were waiting for him to come around we worked on Accelerated Math.

Excel

Today there is no metal math. we are talking about Excel. is working with spread sheets. As the bored says is the ti 83 and ti84 are good but excel is better. If you don't have Microsoft Excel go to the J drive then coursework next is math then The Awesomest grade 10 math. Find the file called everything spreadsheet. There will be notes added to this post for anyone who needs it.

Midpoint Programing

Today we talked about our new assignment on programing. We either have to do it alone or with a partner and we have to try and figure out how to make a program for midpoint. He went over our marks in the class and gave us more time to work on accelerated math, or we could start working on our programs. We also need to make a wiki account.

Feb, 26/10

Today we worked on accelerated math and tried to meet our goal of 13 objectives done.

Something important # 2

Mental math #10 is complete. We had to find our average of our top 8 marks and we got marks for it. If you did bad then don't worry about it because MM isn't worth much of our mark, but still try to do better next time. Accelerated Math is moving along quickly and we are expected to have 13 objectives mastered so start trying to get some done if already weren't.

Calculator Regression

On Feb. 23/10, Mr. Maksymchuk gave us a lessen on Calculator Regression. The big idea was to make a Scatter Plot, than make a Linear rule to create a "Line of Best Fit".

Today Mr. Maks taught us how to use the blog more effetivly. After that he helped us work on our Questions if we needed it.

Today we did mental math, and was given a puzzle to try to figure out over the weekend. we were also given (joke) work sheets.

Today we learned how to work with accelerated math and what its all about! We then all scaned our scan sheets, or worked on getting our first assignments done. YAY!..
You work on all your work sheets at your own pace but try your hardest to get it done as FAST as possible!

First Accelerater Math

Today we started off with mental math there was 5 questions. Next Mr. Maksymchuk did a home work check one exercise to see if we know how to do homework. We went over the exercise 1 up till #6 which we will do another day. There will be a recording on today’s post. I will also put a video of what he is talking about.
